Forum Title: Recession just hit
We have weathered the recession pretty well up till now, probably due to doing quite a bit re-roofing, and also having the tanking work waterproofing basement walls new construction. My middle brother got laid off from a Distribution Co. about 6 months ago and my youngest bro is now looking for a new IT job after his boss closed the company down last month. Phone enquiries are almost non existant, the work we are getting is all word of mouth/ referrals, we just had a 7 day snow/ rain storm pass over us, got 2 repair jobs out of it, $180 each :S Suddenly everyones a roofer, builders, plumbers, plasterers all offering their services to do roofing too in the local papers. I'm still pricing the new construction bigger jobs, but a lot have been cancelled all together or we were too expensive. Just missed out on a $80,000 church re roof with shingles, turns out they didn't have that kind of budget. I've got a weeks work to do ahead of me then ? who knows? I've never had a day without a job to go on with in 16 years in business, something always comes in, then the next thing you know we are over booked :cheer: Lets hope it happens again.
