Forum Title: Of all the luck..
I installed a roof last year, home was built new in 1997. We tore off and installed 30 year O/C?s. This morning I get a call in a big rain and the people say they have a leak?I go over and find out the leak had dripped in furnance and trashed it!! I go up on the roof to find leak and found the 5? Double wall furnance pipe flashing boot as the cause. I will post a picture later if I can figure out how to. The flashing where they make the seam had split. I looks like high wind lifted the front of the flashing and bent it just a little and caused the soldered, crimped seal to fail. I usually never replace furnance flashings unless they look rusty and weak?I'may start changing them everytime now though! It wasnt the storm collar leaking, but the flashing unit itself, and it looked good when we roofed it! Any of you ever had this happen? I have never seen it happen on a newer flashing.
